MEET THE LEAD FACILITATORS

  • Sarah Marsh has been teaching yoga for over 3 decades. She has studied under some of the greatest yoga masters in the world including Rodney Yee, Bikram Choudhury, Baron Baptiste, Richard Freeman, John Friend, Deb Flashenberg, Lois Nesbitt, and Sandra Sommerfield-Kozak. Her teaching techniques and school curriculum reflect the culmination of her knowledge, training and experience with an emphasis on safe practice, meticulous alignment, modifications for every body, and the wisdom of the Sutras.

    In 1997, Sarah opened the first ever Manhattan Hot Yoga studio, Yoga Connection, where she stayed for seven years. During that time, she was hired by The New York Football Giants to train the team for pre-season conditioning. Her other high profile clients include: Scott Wolfe, Martha Stewart, Molly Simms, Gina Gershon, Drew Barrymore, Anastasia, and Robin Strasser.

    Sarah now teaches on-site Yoga for groups and private clients. She has run many Corporate on-site Yoga programs in the Jersey City and NYC area. Corporate clients, past and present, include Sony Music Corporation, JP Morgan Chase, SAP, Clover Health, Barnabas Health Women’s Health Center, First Brokers Securities, Graze, True Entertainment, Kenneth Cole, FCB Cure, and The Westin Hotel. Since 2005, Sarah has offered Yoga Alliance accredited Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and Pre/Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training, graduating over 500 teachers into the Yoga world. She is so excited and honored to now bring her wisdom and her Yoga Teacher Training school to Sol Spirit Yoga JC.

  • Influenced by hard life challenges and transitions, Liz became passionate to find holistic methods to face her anxiety and depression. She aims to share the knowledge of what she has found to be a magical way to connect to your internal compass for guidance and peace. Her focus is to empower others with authenticity, truth and stillness of mind which can be found by linking mindful movement and breath. Through her work she also loves to share the power of energy healing as a tool to align, balance and release pain from trauma and/or injuries.

    Trained under the guidance of Stacy Bell & Carrie Parker at PowerFlow Yoga, Liz received her 200 hr Teacher Training & 35 hr Yin Yoga Certifications. While she loves to teach a fiery Vinyasa Flow with some good tunes to vibe with, her favorite style of teaching is a slow & thoughtful Yin Class and Sound Bath Meditation to relax the body and mind.

    As a certified Usui Reiki Master Teacher and Ayurvedic Nutritionist, Liz also enjoys to work one-on-one with her students and/or clients to help them heal and awaken to their true purpose.

  • Diana sought out a yoga practice during her time in college and likes to tell everyone she meets that yoga changed her life, even if it sounds cliché. She completed her first 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in January 2021 & her 85-hour Prenatal/Slow Flow Yoga Teacher Training in May 2022 with Sarah Marsh of FlorYoga.

    It is thanks to her teachers, Sarah Marsh, Chelsey Forbes, Jeff Scios, and much of the FlorYoga and Powerflow Yoga communities, that she continues to love living in the seat of the student. Her classes focus on that continued dedication to learning, moving with the breath, and moving THE breath, as well as going back to postural foundations. In her classes, you can dig into her progressive sequence building, and themes tied to the seasons. To Diana, a communal practice is conversational, an exchange of information between student and teacher, because that's how we learn! She has joined the FlorYoga and Sol Spirit Teacher Training staff and is now working to give new teachers their unique voices using her deep instinct to lift others.

  • Michael Simpson is a yoga teacher and aspiring writer but primarily considers himself a lifelong student. Michael studied Anatomy and Physiology at Penn State University and is now an E-RYT 500-hour yoga teacher and regular faculty member of local teacher training. He is known for his ability to articulate complex anatomical principles into easily-digested offerings. Michael received his first 200-hour certification in 2013 under the guidance of Heather Sheridan and Julie Gurevich. Since then, Michael has been lucky enough to study with modern-day yoga masters like Jason Crandell, Carrie Parker, Stacey Bell, and Jillian Pransky. In each class, Michael seamlessly weaves together precise anatomy, meditation techniques, and storytelling into a powerful yoga experience.

 FAQs

  • Our Fall 200 Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training will take place at Sol Spirit Yoga JC in the heights! Monday nights will be on Zoom, but the rest of the training will be in person. Wednesday nights 7:30 to 9:30 pm (in-person), and 6 weekends in-person from Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 through Thursday, December 17th, 2024.

    The exact address is: 523 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City NJ.

    Class takes place on Mondays & Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30pm & on the selected weekends from 1:30 to 4:30pm.

  • Holiday break: There will be a Thanksgiving break from Wednesday, November 21st to Tuesday, November 28th. Classes will then resume Niovember 29th.

  • The syllabus is shared privately only after registration (along with the Sol Spirit TT Manual) as a class schedule/calendar via Google Calendar. All details about readings, homework, and the class curriculum on any given day are all on the calendar.

  • Hybrid: Our 200-hour teacher training is mostly in-person, with Mondays on Zoom, and Wednesdays & selected weekends at Sol Spirit Yoga studio (located at 523 Palisade Ave. Jersey City, NJ.

  • We aim to accept a maximum of 15 trainees to keep the training a semi-private, intimate, and attentive experience. Space is limited, spots fill up fast!

  • The cost of our tuition is $3,250 total ($800 nonrefundable deposit). Various flexible payment plans are available for the balance of tuition, available upon request. This price includes unlimited classes at Sol Spirit for 3 months.

  • Sarah Marsh who is leading this traiing has been holding Yoga Alliance accredited teacher trainings since 2005, nearing two whole decades! We have graduated over 500 teachers who are bringing yoga to the world.

  • Our 200-hour curriculum includes the weekly lectures, classes, 30 hours of Anatomy and Physiology, 10 hours of Philosophy, Meditation and Pranayama, 15 hours of practice teaching, 30 hours of at-home/in-studio yoga practice, & 3 exams.

    The weekly lectures consist of: Pranayama (breathwork), Sun Salutations & Flow, Alignment & Modifications, Anatomy and Physiology, Adjustments and Basic Thai Yoga assists, Injuries - Indications/Contraindications, Meditation and Energy Balancing, Communication and Responsibility, Sequencing (Practice Teaching), Pre/postnatal and Restorative Yoga, Sutras & Chakras, Static Standing, Balancing and Floor Poses, Non-Weight-Bearing Inversions, Legal Issues and Starting your Career, Private vs. Group Teaching.

  • Upon registration for the teacher training, you will be sent the Sol Spirit 200-Hour 160 page Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Manual.
