One of the best practices you can do during pregnancy is yoga. It’s the perfect way to stay active for moms-to-be on a physical level and mental level. For those who worry that exercising isn’t safe during gestation, yoga is a completely safe practice as the injury risk is low, and in fact is very good for the joints and ligaments, which tend to suffer from the extra pregnancy weight.

Learn how to bring yoga, fitness, and wellness to your pregnant students by properly stretching, strengthening, and de-stressing them, while keeping them safe and relaxed. This amazing technique translates perfectly to any and all students you have who have any need to modify -- whether they are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or simply restricted to smaller movements and slower flow. This practice is perfect for learning how to modify flow for all your clients who find regular yoga to be too challenging or too fast, or who need to practice in a more supported way. Sol Spirit’s Semi-private 85-hour, Yoga Alliance accredited RPYT Intensive will give you all the information you need to teach moms-to-be during this amazing time of their lives - as they prepare to give birth, and postpartum, as they start their journey into parenthood. Yoga brings so many benefits to moms, including stress relief, better rest, greater energy, and alleviation of pregnancy related pain and hormonal issues. It is an incredible gift to bring them this style of yoga and help them de-stress for a better 9 months and beyond. During this intensive, we will show you the safest, most effective methods for working with the moms,  helping them to make this incredible time blissful and calm.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Changes during pregnancy - how they relate to yoga

  • Alignment/modifications for each trimester

  • Emotional/physical changes in all 3 trimesters of pregnancy

  • Props and posture adjustments; modifications for all body types

  • Yoga for Injuries and disabilities. Yoga for rehabilitation.

  • Strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles

  • Childbirth preparation exercises

  • Relaxation and stress reduction techniques

  • Explanation of fetal position; what poses are beneficial and what poses should be avoided during pregnancy

  • Yoga for common discomfort/pain during pregnancy.

  • Prenatal yoga teachers' responsibilities and boundaries.

MEET THE LEAD TRAINER:

Sarah Marsh

Sarah Marsh has been teaching yoga for over 3 decades. She has studied under some of the greatest yoga masters in the world including Rodney Yee, Bikram Choudhury, Baron Baptiste, Richard Freeman, John Friend, Deb Flashenberg, Lois Nesbitt, and Sandra Sommerfield-Kozak. Her teaching techniques and school curriculum reflect the culmination of her knowledge, training and experience with an emphasis on safe practice, meticulous alignment, modifications for every body, and the wisdom of the Sutras.

In 1997, Sarah opened the first ever Manhattan Hot Yoga studio, Yoga Connection, where she stayed for seven years. During that time, she was hired by The New York Football Giants to train the team for pre-season conditioning. Her other high profile clients include: Scott Wolfe, Martha Stewart, Molly Simms, Gina Gershon, Drew Barrymore, Anastasia, and Robin Strasser.

Sarah now teaches on-site Yoga for groups and private clients. She has run many Corporate on-site Yoga programs in the Jersey City and NYC area. Corporate clients, past and present, include Sony Music Corporation, JP Morgan Chase, SAP, Clover Health, Barnabas Health Women’s Health Center, First Brokers Securities, Graze, True Entertainment, Kenneth Cole, FCB Cure, and The Westin Hotel. Since 2005, Sarah has offered Yoga Alliance accredited Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and Pre/Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training, graduating over 500 teachers into the Yoga world. She is so excited and honored to now bring her wisdom and her Yoga Teacher Training school to Sol Spirit Yoga JC.
